Newtons Wake is billed as "A Space Opera", which I guess is supposed to explain why this is a bit of a creampuff of a novel. MacLeod is a deft writer, with a nice ability to turn phrases.

I will call this book TD2, a sequel to the blockbuster, "The Travel Detective." Supposedly, the tips are submitted by air crew members (pilots and attendants), although the text appears in first-person format with Peter Greenberg as the author.
