There are two kinds of books that deal with bio-medical issues: those that have reputable scientific references located within the book, and those that dont. This book does not. If this book had the hundreds of journal articles needed to back up Dr. Hoffers claims, I would have given it a 4 or 5 sta

It is frustrating that the medical profession, in its ignorance, arrogance, and smugness, looks down on "megavitamin" therapy. Vitamins were placed here by the creator(s), to keep us healthy. The drugs "pushed" by MDs were created by Frankenstein in a lab, and frankly, Frankenstein barely understood

As a well-read reviewer on this subject, perhaps I am being overcritical. I suffer from depression, but have never tried a prescription drug since a brief bout with tricyclics about 15 years ago. This is a great alternative. Nicely written review of the neur..
Prescription for Nutritional Healing: A Practical A-Z Reference to Drug-Free Remedies Using Vitamins, Minerals, Herbs, and Food Supplements (Prescription for Nutritional Healing, 3rd ed)
Prescription for Nutritional Healing by nutritionist Phyllis A. Balch and James F. Balch, M.D., has long been considered one of the most trusted, comprehensive sources on the mind-boggling array of vitamins, minerals, herbs, and other dietary supplements now available. Working from the premise that a good diet promotes good health, this third edition of PNH still starts with the basics: consume fresh produce, grains, and lean meats; avoid foods that are processed or high in saturated fat; cook using glass, stainless steel, or iron--never aluminum; and drink filtered water. The authors also stand by their claim that the government-prescribed recommended daily allowances are ridiculously low, and that the books optimal daily intake for nutrients should be followed instead.

If there is ever a book I refer to again and again when I am not feeling well or have some physical challenge, this is it. Prescription for Nutritional Healing is Western in its foundation, although it doesnt encourage typical synthetic Western pharmaceuticals. In various sections, the book explains..
